Best Sights & Activities -(Casinos)
Frank Sisson's Silver Dollar Casino
(Sights & Activities - Casinos)
1010 42nd Ave SECalgary AB 403-287-1183
Description:
Sure, it's called a casino, but it's actually much more than that. Sisson's does offer an array of blackjack, poker and roulette games, but you'll also find video lottery terminals (VLTs) and slot machines if you want to play without the presence of dealers. In addition, there are TVs to watch (especially sports events), restaurants to dine at, and a bowling alley that sports over 35 lanes. Plus, the complex sponsors music concerts (Garth Brooks and Emmylou Harris have performed here) and conventions throughout the year.
Stampede Casino
(Sights & Activities - Casinos)
1801 Big Four Trail SECalgary AB T2G 2W1 403-261-0422
Description:
It somehow seems fitting that Calgary's largest casino should be located on the grounds of Stampede, home to the city's best-known annual event. In the expansive space, visitors will find an array of table games and slot machines to keep them occupied. If you decide to break away for refreshments, you'll find a restaurant, cafe and a lounge, although if you want to stick to your lucky position, they'll bring your favorite alcoholic beverage tableside.
Stampede Park
(Sights & Activities - Casinos)
1410 Olympic Way SECalgary AB T2G 2W1 403-261-0214
Description:
Although it's best known for hosting rodeo activities at Calgary's annual Stampede event, thoroughbred and harness racing takes place here much of the year, and facilities are available for trade shows and conventions throughout the year. Even if you don't make it for Stampede, you might want to walk around the grounds and take in the ambience. The casino operates year-round in Big Four Building, and the Grain Academy in Roundup Centre provides a glimpse into the workings of Calgary's agricultural industry. If you're here during Stampede, you'll come to know the place very well without too much added effort.
